Martyn Joseph is a performer like no other: Shades of Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews there may be - but he stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives delivering his "songs of lyrical intelligence" according to BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris.

“Tonypandy Revisited” November 2010

In November 2010 Martyn presented an hour long BBC Radio Wales programme to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Tonypandy Riots.

Many folk have told us they unfortunately missed the programme, so here it is in its entirety.

We hope you find it both informative and enjoyable and it gives an insight into the terrible events of 100 uears ago.

  • Many thanks for making this available. I missed it when it first aired as I was, somewhat ironically, travelling to a Martyn Joseph gig!! I never did catch it on ‘listen again’ so having just heard it for the first time, I found it absorbing listening. A balanced, sobering, proud and inspiring collection of accounts from recordings of some who were there, along with insights into the various projects that were commemorating the centenary. I enjoyed hearing from those involved in the amazing ‘Broken Peace’ project, including excerpts from one of the live performances at the end of last year. Along with the story being told, the emotional current running through those performances clear for all to hear. Superb. I thought Martyn did an excellent job of presenting the programme, particularly in his summary at the end. Very poignant listening. Thanks again.
