Martyn Joseph is a performer like no other: Shades of Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews there may be - but he stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives delivering his "songs of lyrical intelligence" according to BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris.
Thanks for your deep passion for getting it right. You keep me motivated to do the same. Thanks for traveling around and performing live and sharing your wisdom and heart. I hope you’ll visit Portland again soon!
Spell bound by last night’s Lemsip fuelled concert in Worcester. Great guitar and haunting and sometimes chilling melodies – delivered with honest integrity. So many loved songs. I missed the title of the Nye Bevan tribute about the NHS but it nailed the tarnished but still shining light of our UK democracy.
Love the new single.. Cant wait to see Martyn when he makes a return visit to Vancouver Canada.. Brilliant Songwriter and guitarist.. What more can I say but go out and buy the new C.D..
It’s the morning after seeing you at the Severn Theatre in Shrewsbury 29th January 2016, what a great night still have your songs playing in my head. I present a programme on an online radio station & have been playing Dolphins, Please Sir & Let’s Talk About In The Morning for years. I have a question, is there a story behind Dolphins Make Me Cry? That’s it I can’t wait until until the next time, regards a satisfied 64 year old fan. (Shropshire).
Love the song “Cardiff Bay” – it inspired me to write a song for my son on his 30th birthday called “30 years on”!
I was visiting him in Brooklyn NY where he runs his own coffee shop, buying a Metro ticket on my way from Manhatten I noticed the ticket was purchased at exactly the time (allowing for time difference) he had been born 30 years previously ‘
The song was written during that 20 minute journey downtown and over the bridge to Brooklyn!
Love your songs Martin look forward to seeing you again in the New Year .
Beautiful melodies, passionate music, haunting ballads, powerful words! Seeing Martyn in Montreal tonight and thrilled to hear him live for the first time! How is it I have missed hearing you all these years. Thank goodness for people like Matt Large and Rebecca Anderson, and Hello Darlin’ Productions for bringing Martyn Joseph to us to discover!!
Wow It truly does my heart good to go to your show every year – the song for your daughter- driving you home – gave me chills in a good way! Powerful song – can’t wait to be able to listen to it again. Hope you put it up on your site! Amazing concert everyone singing at the top of their lungs , having a ball. You had us in the palm of your hand! All strength to your charity. Long may love, empathy and compassion lead the way. Sending big thanks your way….
Was searching for something special to celebrate my daughter’s 34th birthday and discovered your concert at the Wildish theatre in Springfield, Oregon on 9/23. Just listened to I Searched for You. Brilliant! See you on Saturday.
Hi Martyn. You won’t know me but we are sort of connected by our musical histories. I believe you were starting out in the late 1970’s and early on, you were due to do some music at the Perranporth CSSM beach missions. We never met, but the year before you started, I had been doing the same informal musical responsibilities at Perranporth CSSM for some years before. I have followed you career with interest, and it’s terrific you have been able to establish youself as a prominent professional solo guitarist. Sadly I didn’t have the motivation, opportunity, but probably more relevant, the necessary level of expertise.. !!! But I have had many happy years, in a non professional capacity, singing, playing solo accoustic guitar and gigging in many disparate situations. Now in my late 60’s playing guitar, singing, and a wide range of musical tastes continues to give me much pleasure. Every continued success… Funny how life throws up these coincidences…. !!!!
Hey Martyn, years ago you let me get up on stage with you in Bolton. I was singing harmonies with you from the front row and then you asked me to get up on stage. I can’t remember what I sang but I have to say. The song (I don’t know if the title is right) but to me, it was, I love the light in you. Is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever had the privilege to hear. I sing it to my wife, who is now disabled and it makes her cry every time I sing it, it’s because it is true. thank you for the words. Love you, and night, night god bless.
I love these songs. I need to learn some more of your music. Need to catch you live when you come back to the Maryland area. You have a little Burt Jansch in your music. Amazing.
